Searching for Solitude

The infrared images presented here represent a body of work entitled "Searching for Solitude".  The majority of the images were taken in rural areas of Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa where the two States meet.

Living in Southern California there is an atmosphere of constantly being surrounded by people.  Even though I am basically an extrovert, I long for periods of solitude and quiet with only the occasional contact with people.   These rural areas provide that escape.

Although there was minimal contact with people while working on this project, I met some very hospitable farmers who allowed me free rein on their property to take these images.

My hope is that the viewer will feel this sense of solitude, of endless country roads, and the vast expanse of the landscape.  A time to sit back, take a deep breath and get lost in the space.
